I've never made anywhere near that much money writing comics. The standard rate at the big two is about $100 per page.

Holy crap?! For real?

And just a little question, is the liscensing agreement between Milestone and DC still intact?

Yep, for real. I make more than that, and you shouldn't discount royalties and reprint fees, which can really add up, but the price per page is about 100 bucks.

It's intact, but DC isn't showing much interest in the characters, particularly on the solo front. I'm content as long as the reprint editions continue to flow.

Well, it's kinda understandable, at least for some characters. When the whole merger was announced a year or so ago, I remember thinking right then and there "Icon is f*cked". No one in DC is allowed to be on Superman's level. NO ONE. Just look at Captain Atom!

But I think it's criminal that Static hasn't even been considered for a MINI when the Archie guys are getting solos! And it's my fondest hope to write for DC someday, and I have this crazy idea for a Wonder Woman story involving Donner and Blitzen, so hopefully they're still around by then.

And I'm still wondering if Blitzen is going to play a part in Flash: Rebirth or the ongoing that is supposed to be launched afterwards. At least a cameo would be nice.

As far as comic-related stuff, the all-new "Milestone Forever," is still on track for late this year/early next year, and the Milestone trade paperback program is in full swing, with Static Shock, Icon and Hardware volumes already on the way. I've also recently completed a console video game script that I can't talk about yet, but that will be of interest to anyone reading this thread. I'm currently writing a Direct-To-Video animated feature for Warner Animation, the second of two I've taken on this year. Again, I can't say what they are until they're officially announced, but they're likely of interest to superhero fans, and one of them I can't help looking at as what-could-have-been. You'll see what I mean.

I've said my peace on the DC boards, most of which were eliminated when the story first broke.
But Mr. McDuffie, it's always good to see you have a lot of irons in the fire & will bounce back.

The offer they gave you on the same call, did you accept that?
When will we see your next DC written project after your last issue of JLofA?

I'm really interested in your upcoming contribution to Warner Animation.
When will you be allowed to or when will Warner be announcing this project?
I look forward to it.

How come you can figure out how to color Hardware correctly and DC Comics can't?

Right?! From the brown skinned Hardware to the white Vixen to the blue eyed Kimiyo Hoshi, the coloring on most of your run has stunk. Where do they get these guys?

No. I did not accept the offer. I have completed the script to a Milestone mini-series that is currently being drawn. DC has also given the go ahead to a major project about their black characters and their place in the DCU, but I'm no longer sure I want to do it as I'm increasingly concerned about their posture on racial matters. I hope I'm wrong. I'm sure we'll talk about it in the next few months.

I'm doing a couple of things for Warner Animation, but I can't talk about them until they're announced, I think this fall.

I think they're just not getting proper reference. Blue Hardware is particularly driving me crazy.

I noticed that this tends to happen to a lot of minorities for some reason. Growing up, I always loved Connor Hawke because he was mixed race, just like me. Yet despite the fact that he has a mother who is half black and half Korean, a lot of colorists do shit like giving him milky white skin. A lot of artists also make him look very aryan, despite the fact that he was originally drawn with asian shape, and a broad nose and lips. I kinda think that some of the colorists might be accidently using Ollie Queen as a photo reference.

The same thing happened to the new Mister Miracle in Final Crisis, when he was given white skin.
